Can pressure washing damage my deck or fence?
It can, if done incorrectly. Too much pressure, or the wrong nozzle or angle, can etch or furrow softwood. We set pressure and technique to the wood species so we clean safely without damaging the surface.
Do you power wash both sides of a fence?
We offer both single-sided and double-sided fence cleaning. Double-sided gives the most uniform result; single-sided is often enough when only the visible face matters. We confirm access before we begin.
Can I stain right after power washing?
No. Wood needs to dry to the proper moisture level first. Staining damp wood causes poor adhesion, uneven color, and early failure. We plan timing based on weather and wood type.
Do you remove old stain while washing?
Loose and failing finish comes off during proper cleaning and prep. Some stubborn or incompatible coatings may need additional preparation before a new finish bonds correctly.
Will washing get rid of all discoloration?
A professional wash removes dirt, mildew, algae, and organic buildup. Some very deep stains or shadows left by a prior coating may remain — those aren't damage from washing, and we're upfront about what cleaning can and can't fix.

How often should a wood deck be stained?
Most decks benefit from re-staining every 2–4 years, depending on the product, sun exposure, traffic, and weather. If the wood looks dry, faded, or absorbs water quickly, it's probably time.
What finish should I choose — transparent, semi-transparent, or solid?
Transparent shows the wood grain most and adds a subtle tone. Semi-transparent adds noticeable color while letting grain show. Solid is opaque and offers maximum durability but hides grain. We'll help you match the choice to your look and protection goals.
Should I stain one side of my fence or both?
Single-sided protects just the visible face and is more budget-friendly. Double-sided gives uniform protection and appearance from every angle. We'll help you decide based on your fence and budget.
Do I need to pick the stain color before scheduling?
For staining projects, yes — selecting your color and opacity before we schedule helps everything run smoothly on the day of service.
How long does stain actually last?
There's no single lifespan — it depends on the product, surface preparation, foot traffic, sun exposure, moisture, weather, and maintenance. We're realistic about expectations and share what affects durability for your specific project.

Can gray, weathered wood be restored?
Usually, yes — as long as the wood is structurally sound. Cleaning and prepping exposes the wood's natural tone, and a protective finish locks in the look. The degree of restoration depends on the species, age, and how weathered it is.
What's the difference between washing and restoration?
Washing cleans the surface. Restoration is the full sequence — cleaning, surface preparation, and a protective finish. If your wood is sound and you want lasting protection and color, restoration is the more complete service.
Can restoration bring back a badly old deck or fence?
If the wood is structurally sound, restoration can dramatically improve both appearance and protection. Severely damaged, rotted, unstable, or unsafe wood may need repair or replacement first — we'll be straight with you about what your wood really needs.
What affects the cost of deck restoration?
Size, wood species and condition, railings, stairs, existing coatings, repairs needed, accessibility, and the finish you choose all play a role. We provide a detailed, transparent estimate before work begins.

Is restoration cheaper than replacement?

How long should people and pets stay off the finished surface?
Drying and cure time varies by product and weather. We'll give you a clear timeline for your project and keep people and pets off the surface until it's ready.
What happens if rain is forecast?
We plan around the weather. If rain is likely during application or the critical drying window, we'll adjust the schedule so the finish has the best chance to cure properly.
How can I make my stain last longer?
Keeping the surface clean, clearing debris, and re-coating when the wood starts to look dry are the biggest factors. Sun exposure and local weather play a role too — we share practical maintenance guidance after each project.
